The HKMA reminds the public that legitimate banks will never send SMS or emails with links requesting users to access their online banking services. Customers are urged to avoid clicking on suspicious links and never share sensitive information such as passwords or One-Time Passwords (OTPs) via phone, email, or SMS.
What to Do If You’re Affected
Anyone who has unknowingly provided personal information or conducted transactions through the fraudulent website should immediately contact China Minsheng Banking Corp. using its official contact details. The incident should also be reported to the Hong Kong Police Force, with the Crime Wing Information Centre available at 2860 5012 for assistance.
